Overview

Milky Way Cafe at Power Plant Mall delivers a genuine taste of Filipino comfort food in a casual, carinderia-style setting. Located along Rockwell Drive in Makati City, this spot is known for its iconic halo-halo, a well-crafted dessert featuring finely shaved ice and a harmonious blend of classic ingredients, including delectable ube ice cream that locals and visitors alike praise.

The menu focuses on beloved Filipino dishes like Ginataang Halo Halo, Lumpiang Sariwa, and Kare Kare—dishes that evoke a sense of home and tradition. While the cuisine leans more toward cafeteria-style offerings than fine dining, the flavors remain authentic, drawing diners who crave a straightforward, honest Filipino meal experience.

The atmosphere here is unpretentious and inviting, ideal for those seeking quick and satisfying meals amid the upscale surroundings of Power Plant Mall. Though the space is modest and often busy, some moments are punctuated by live music, enriching the overall dining experience.

It is worth noting that the ordering process is somewhat old-school, with no printed menus or price tags displayed; service can be brisk and occasionally less personable compared to their flagship branch on Pasay Road. However, this rustic charm adds to the carinderia feel, fitting for customers comfortable with a more casual, hands-on style of dining.

Milky Way Cafe’s target audience includes both local Filipino food enthusiasts and curious visitors looking to savor traditional flavors amidst the urban vibe of Makati’s Rockwell area. Whether you come for the famed halo-halo or to explore hearty Filipino favorites, this spot promises an authentically immersive and flavorful culinary journey.

This is a classic Filipino food destination. The Halo halo is excellent, the ice is perfectly shaved and milky and the blend of ingredients is good. The service is nowhere close to the Pasay Road location even if prices are similar. I asked the crew for a menu and prices but they said they had none and prices of items were not displayed or marked. They said everything is turo-turo or you point at it. There's only a brief flash of the menu on the screen. Too fast for me to catch in a picture. Cashier was not too friendly or helpful.

A carinderia style establishment on the moderate price range. We came only to have halo halo approx 235peso each but they also serve some filipino favourites like dinuguan, adobong pusit, kare kare etc. Well worth coming back and trying their dishes next time.

Milky Way Cafe has hands down the best halo-halo in the area. Enjoy this place while sitting next to live music (if your lucky). The food here is more cafeteria like meals, unlike their flagship branch on pasay road.

Tried their famous halo halo and I was not disappointed. It's not filled with crushed ice and their ube ice cream was actually good. We had to wait in line though because the place is small and it was full. The halo halo was a bit pricey but it was worth it.

Amazing and comforting Filipino food favorites at Milky Way Power Plant Mall. Of course, my family loves the dinuguan. Simply the best! Then there's the caldereta and the adobong pusit, both equally delicious. Extra rice please! Hahaha. For dessert, it's a tie between guinumis and halo-halo. They also sell frozen food such as longganisa and dinuguan, etc. Yum!

December 2025 One of the longest running Filipino chain restaurants since 1950s and is being run currently by the Gamboa family. This gives you an idea of what type of cuisine is being offered which emphasizes on favorite and tried and tested dishes. The food is often laid out carinderia style in a simple and sanitized way. Servings are plentiful and normally for sharing. Service is counter with a roving server. Very homey and small community feel. But seats are very limited. The place in the Power Plant is very open and informal which mostly caters to a loyal elderly following. Eating area is semi open to the busy LG concourse full of food establishments.

I just had the Halo Halo. Pricy but excellent. The cafe actually had a lot more on their menu but I only had time for dessert. If the rest of their food is the same quality as their ice cream, I'm in.
